About us

Here at The Sk8 Lounge, we want to bring skateboarding into the world of adaptive sports. We believe that this is the worlds first adaptive longboard, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy it no matter what that looks like!

My Story

Hi, I'm Emerson Corduff. I am a paraplegic skater and the primary owner of The Sk8 Lounge. Close to the end of 2023, I was in a non-skate-related accident, which resulted in me becoming a paraplegic from the waist down. During my recovery period in the hospital and rehab clinics, I had overwhelming support from my friends and family. They would come to visit or break me out whenever there was a race or other fun activities. Fast forward a few months, and I was on my way to the Sullivan challenge in Kimberly, British Columbia. Prior to my injury, this was my favorite event. I knew it was going to be different, not riding and racing with everyone, but I was still keen to go. We arrived at Berley Skate, the shop, and I remember seeing an interesting-looking board with a seat. Sure enough, a few minutes later, I was riding in it. That feeling of being back on a board was amazing. Time went on, and Jody Wilcox and I were talking, and we wanted others in similar life situations to me, to be able to enjoy it as well. That's when we decided we should get these out there so people can try them for themselves!
